Triton, Griffon & underwater work
Triton was a French Navy vessel dedicated to underwater research and diving operations. It supported divers using a diving bell and carried the small submersible Griffon for underwater observation and exploration. Dynamic positioning helped the vessel maintain its position and heading during these operations, limiting movement that could strain the bell’s suspension cable and the divers’ umbilicals. I served aboard Triton from 1989 to 1991.
